We struck out in LIC – none of the apartments were quite right for us. But we didn't entirely waste the day. On the edge of the neighborhood is a vast expanse of parks and piers along the link East River, overlooking Manhattan. With the sun shining, and our dog Mia along link for the trip, we walked along the water, taking in the view. It also gave me more link chances to see just how versatile this watch is.
Timex commercials were like new frontiers. Legendary link newsman John Cameron Swayze was the face of the brand, and ads would talk about how Timex’s parent company (U.S. Time) manufactured link mechanical parts for missiles and government production equipment. I mean … who wouldn’t want that kind of technology link on their wrist?
It also just so happens that Porsche Design is the link official timekeeper of the Ice Race ... and it just so happens that the Hodinkee Shop has a very special limited link edition PD Chronograph 1 in stock. The GP Edition was made specifically to honor the famed race and it's a watch we're really excited about. In link the spirit of that excitement, we took the PD GP out for a bit of a photoshoot and had some serious fun with it. It just goes to show you how versatile a watch this is in any environment.
Chieng's collection is focused link on link iconic models from highly regarded watchmakers, but his selections seem to veer one or two clicks away from that which is most predictable. He has two early Seiko 6139 automatic chronographs, but rather than the "Pogue," Chieng wears the "Bruce Lee." He has an Omega Speedmaster, but instead of the Moonwatch, his is the First Omega In Space. And when it came time for a travel watch, Chieng chose a link GMT-Master, but rather than the "Pepsi," it's a "Root Beer."
What I'm saying is that before link I start thinking about watches too seriously, before I make any rash purchases, I need to go look at Rolexes. link I mean, why mess around? Why not go link look at the only fancy watch in the world most people have heard of?
